Hey guys, Travis from CKL here. I’m a DP/Gaffer based in Kansas City and I own A LOT of gear. Especially when it comes to LED lighting. And one of the 2-3 fixtures that I’ve taken on EVERY single one of our last 20+ shoots is the Nanlite 60C. Now that this deal is live I plan to immediately buy 2 more kits for a total of 3 sets. A few months ago, I was at Cinegear, wandering through the booths when I noticed the Nanlite 60c. I wasn’t very familiar with the 60c as I considered Nanlite to be a “value brand” and I tend to shy away from that category. However, the 60c stood out to me immediately due to its compact size and the 19º projection attachment. I could not believe the output I was seeing from this tiny fixture! Then I saw that it was full spectrum RGBCAL, had a variety of other attachments, heard the price and put it on my list of lights to research. A short time later, I saw Andrew Lock post about his experience with the 60c and it was overwhelmingly positive. My friend John Roche, who is an extremely well established gaffer in NY also owns 6 of these and had so many positive things to say about this light that I knew I had to bring one into our shop to incorporate into our workflow and see if it was a good fit.
What I found out right away is that the 60c really shines when you bring along ALL of the accessories and modifiers. From one shoot to another, I found myself using the 60c in a slightly different configuration on every job. Once job for Meta, I had the VM handgrip attached using the 24” Softbox and walking around Hollywooding OTFs for the DP. The next job, I had it on a boom arm in between Patrick Mahomes and Matt Hasslebeck on a SNF interview for ESPN to wrap the keys around both of their faces. Job after that, I had it set up with the 19º Projection Attachment. This light is truly one of the most versatile fixtures I own and for $699 retail, with a bevy of very affordable accessories, it’s a light that I think truly does belong in everyone’s kit.
