LIGHTBRIDGE CRLS | UP TO 43% OFF!

I have been working on this deal for over 3 years! It’s exciting to finally launch this partnership with a brand that I really admire for a product that I truly believe can change your lighting approach the same way it did mine.

I first met Jakob Ballinger at NAB Vegas in 2021. I’d heard great things about his innovative cine reflector system but I wasn’t sure how it worked. Why would I use a series of mirrors to reflect light when I could simply point a source at whatever it was I wanted to illuminate? At the time, I was still primarily a DP who had recently started gaffing and I had a lot to learn about the quality and texture of light and how those choices impact tone, resonance and mood.

I was curious about his CRLS system but it was also expensive and I didn’t know how to use it in my on set workflow yet. Nobody else in Kansas City had them. It was something I mostly saw on Instagram being used on high end commercials and features. I also saw some comments online that they were delicate and easily damaged. I was nervous about investing so much money into an expensive, potentially delicate ecosystem that I didn’t fully understand.

That said, when I would talk to gaffers who owned them, they all said the same thing “LightBridge CRLS has changed the way I light a set.” I heard it so many times that I had to find out for myself how it worked and why it was so revolutionary. I needed to get some of the CRLS cine reflectors on my sets and put them through some challenges to see how they performed.

This deal is a result of those tests and many conversations with Jakob over this last year that have even resulted in some brand new SKUs that I believe take this product to the next level when it comes to versatility, functionality and price point. I am excited to launch this partnership in support of a product I full heartedly believe can change your lighting approach the same way it changed mine.

Let’s get into it.

One of the brand new LightBridge SKUs. The C-Move Core Kit.

Previously available as the C-Move + Kit for $4285, this updated C-Move Core version comes with the incredibly solid cordura carry case, #1, #2 and #3 cine reflectors for the 50cm, 25cm and 15cm sizes and removes the 7cm reflector set and the #4 diffusions and reprices at $2995. With the additional CKL discount of 25%, the new price is $2245!

A savings of $2040 from the original package, with 90% of the functionality and features.

Read on for more info but this kit is an incredible purchase for anyone wanting to dip into the CRLS system at an incredible price point.

On to the write up!

So, I’d need at least an hour to fully explain just how much the LightBridge system has impacted how we light but I just read that attention spans online are now below 45 seconds, so I will try to make this quick!

LightBridge CRLS allows you to control and manipulate light from a variety of sources (ambient, practical and deliberate) in ways you simply cannot achieve using a fixture and modifier approach alone. One thing I do a lot as a DP/gaffer is light an interior through a window. My old approach was often just to put a source into a fresnel and possibly a frame or rag and point it directly at the window, which never quite got me the look I wanted. The LightBridge CRLS cine reflectors, the C100s in particular, have allowed me to use the sun itself to reflect light back into the window, which gives me a far more natural look, that is easy to control.

The sun itself is our most powerful tool and we can often set up multiple CRLS reflectors to harness that power to create looks that might have previously only been possible using “specials” to highlight or dapple areas of the composition. See the image below for how we recently did that on a job for HGTV.

Here I am gaffing a house for HGTV. This is around 8AM and the house is west facing, in the shade. The sun is rising from the east, behind the house and to the south just a bit. We have four LightBridge CRLS reflectors grabbing that morning sunlight and reflecting it back into the house through various windows using various diffusions.

Our original plan was to use 2 LED fixtures to light this but because we didn’t have to set anything up, we saved about 20 minutes on this and left the generator on the truck.

Here we’re using 3X 50cms and 1X C100. Everything is bare except for the 50cm #2, which is also going through a 4x4 for a bit of extra softness.

You don’t have to use sunlight to get multiple cine reflectors in play. Here’s a job from two weeks ago for Butterball, yeah, the turkey folks.

Here we have the Nanlux 900C going into three (3X) CRLS cine reflectors with the Nanlite 60C being used as a special.

One single source that is working as a hairlight, a streak across some food in a kitchen and to illuminate some cabinets behind our talent. Using different diffusions gets us different textures and tones of light.

If you shoot tabletop or food, the CRLS system is a must-have. I would go out and replace mine immediately if anything happened to it. It’s become essential to our workflow and DPs who have had the chance to use this technique on set ask for it often!

I am almost getting to showing off the C100s and the brand new C-100 SKU that now comes with a FREE Cordura Speedbag ($795) but I want to show off more more use case of the smaller CRLS system here. Here’s a recent promo for the NFL (DP Dom Savio) (Gaffer Travis Wears). We’ve built a set and are running two Godox 600B 4x4 mats overhead, a Godox 400B 4x2 mat for a key and have a Nanlite 60C on the floor bouncing into a CRLS reflector to give the SB ring a golden glow in the sunglasses of All Pro CB Trent McDuffie.

Check out this frame and the video, narrated by Jon Hamm below.

Here’s our setup.

LightBridge CRLS on a grip arm, ready to bring that warm glow on the ring.

The LightBridge CRLS system is incredible but without a doubt, my favorite and most used reflectors are the C-100s. They are absolutely incredible. Earlier in this post, I talked a bit about one of the new CRLS SKUs, the C-Move Core. Well, there’s another brand new SKU available as part of this deal. Actually, there are four of them! The new LightBridge C-100 is now packaged the way that I like to transport them, in the rugged, lightweight Italian made Cordura Speedbag! Having the C-100s in the Speedbag makes it easy to transport them in a 4x4 cart, in an SUV or truck without damaging the reflectors. Here’s how we have ours installed in our 2Ton van.

The Cordura Speedbag is ESSENTIAL to running the CRLS C-100s.

So much so that I didn’t want to run this deal without including them. Here you can see that I have the CRLS set up in our Mini 4X4 grip cart from The Grip House.

I LOVE this solution. The bags are super heavy duty and easy to use, they perfectly fit the C-100s and they are much lighter and easier to use than a rolling road case.

Previously you could buy the set of CRLS C-100s (#1, #2) and (#3, #4) for $6595, which DID NOT come with these cases. The Speedbags are an additional $795/ea. So $8185 total for the two most essential C-100 reflectors with the bags. Or $4,092/ea.

Instead of paying $4,092/ea to get a single reflector with the bag, you can now purchase through Cine Kit List and save 43%. Fourty. Three. Percent.

Click the link below and buy a C-100 reflector for $2,299 that INCLUDES a FREE Speedbag. A savings of almost $1800 per reflector. If you want to purchase the standard set of (#1, #2) and (#3, #4) with two FREE Speedbags you are looking at $4,598, which is a savings of $3,587!

This is HUGE!

Early morning sunlight with the Nanlux 2400B and CRLS C-100.

There’s no system on the market that delivers the quality and versatility you can find with LightBridge CRLS for this price.

Will it last? Are they really that delicate and easily damaged?

I have several reflector systems and the LightBridge is easily the highest quality. Especially the C-100 size. The yokes are a solid piece with no wiggling or jiggling and I’ve had them out in the rain, sleet and snow and they clean up beautifully. Now, while it is true that finger oils can smudge a bit, that’s what the cleaning kits are for! Just be sure to give them a wipe down if anyone touches them without gloves and you’re all good. A few of mine do have hairline scratches but it does not affect the quality or functionality of the light whatsoever.

LightBridge CRLS C-100 in the pouring rain.

It’s a bit tough to tell from this image but this is mid-afternoon in the pouring rain. Both light and reflector performed admirably throughout the scene, we never lost power or had any issues and both cleaned up nicely when the sun came out!

I do realize this is over 45 seconds but I have to talk about one more incredible product. The LightBridge Snapbridge Glide. I’m gonna start off by having Jakob tell you all a bit about it.

We’ve used it many times with great success. As Jakob mentioned in the clip above, I have become increasingly interested in mixing color temperatures in the key and mixing qualities of light. So instead of just plopping a light behind a softbox, how can we create a textured solution that adds depth to the frame? Here’s an example from this year on a corporate job (DP Daniel Blackwell-Christopher) (Gaffer Travis Wears). We are using a Godox 200B pancake lantern as an overhead source and getting our eye light and key from the Snapbridge using a tiny Nanlite 60C in a turtle stand.

Here’s our BTS image from the previous shoot.

Godox 200B mat with a pancake lantern overhead. Snapbridge with CRLS #2 as a key / eye light and a Titan tube behind his head for an edge. Then we have about 5 other sources and mirrors working that deep background but no need to get into that here!

I could keep going on and on about LightBridge. I have so many images that I wish I could share but the projects are not sharable yet.

I want to move on to the pricing and availability. Today is Sept 23rd and all coupon codes are LIVE for the next two weeks. Items that are not in stock should be in stock shortly as we’ve placed our orders. Do not wait for the item to come into stock. Order now and we’ll prioritize all CKL transactions and customers. In addition to offering incredible deals on the CRLS C-100, we are also offering the C-Move Core kit, the 5” Snapbridge SLIM reflector, the Snapbridge Glide kit, the 5” Bluff Bounce in day blue and unbleached mus and the 5” Bluff Bounce (for Snapbridge) in unbleached mus, the C-Go 2.0 kit, the C-Move kit and the Move+ kit with #0 (least diffusion, most like a mirror board) reflectors.

LIGHTBRIDGE CRLS PROMO | SAVE UP TO 43%

FREE CORDURA SPEEDBAG ($795) with EVERY C-100 CINE REFLECTOR PURCHASE

Two notes. When you purchase a C-100 reflector, you choose your diffusions. They are double sided, so each side is a different diffusion. The most popular by far and the first that I’d recommend first are the (#1, #2) the (#2, #3) and the (#3, #4). If you want the two from the original LightBridge C-100 set it’s the (#1, #2) and (#3, #4) combo.

Here are your CRLS C-100 options! Save 43% on each of these kits and get a FREE Speedbag! This is an unprecedented entryway into the coveted LightBridge CRLS cine reflector system.
